earthquake precursors

i'm posting this blog in hopes of receiving a response to my query. my family lives in the panhandle of rural northwest florida, just a few miles from the alabama line. we live in a well built brick house with a concrete foundation. prior to quakes striking (a small one in tennessee) and the larger ones in haiti and also chile, we would hear a low rumbling sound and the windows would shake. this happened usually about 24 hours prior to an event. does this sound like a coincidence? we live approximately 60 miles from eglin afb, and in the past i thought it might have to do with military exercises. however, the regularity of the events in conjunction with quakes a short time later have me wondering.

is there any known fault (major or minor) traversing the panhandle of florida. if so, could these events serve as precursors to a major event. also, could devices be placed as an early warning system to the usgs for such an event. though it would not predict the area of the event, it could serve as a warning catalyst for potential seismic activity. and, if there is a minor fault in the area, could it possibly tracked to major faults in the hope of serving as an early warning device.

if there is anyone else who has information regarding this type of event, or knowledge of known precursors, please review this information.
